Kingston House Memories

I haven't even taken one out to look at when I realized what a treasure trove I had...anyone want a copy of the 1st Kingston House Constitution where we edited out that only Jews were allowed to be members...me, Brown and DeFiore filibustered, and this was changed to allow those to join who dated Jewish women.

Ed Stimler was indeed one of the (Jose) Feliciano partners...we sent him into the city to do the negotiating since his family had a theatre background. We thought $700 for Feliciano was too much and sent Ed into the city to get the price down.

Famous last words..."Good news guys, I got Feliciano for $1,000."

Richie Branciforte

I always get a little "teary" when I think back to those wonderful days. We should all be grateful we got to share them with each other.

Stan (Bleiman)

Thank you so much for the background - believe it or not, most of it is accurate.  Some of it only Stan and I really know, but your obvious love of the memories touched me.

Life is a bunch of feelings and just as I felt about the skits, so I feel about the memories.

Victor (Blum)

Great job on the "synopsis," though I've read shorter books on the Civil War.  The synopsis, just like our conversations and e-mails, do bring back lots of good memories about good times when being irresponsible and silly without incurring retribution was possible.

David Mintzes

I read your e-mail last night, and like for Mintzes, it brings back very good memories of a time in my life I hold very dear.

Bob Wernick

Jeez Mickey--a little historical perspective? That's more reading than I did in 4 1/2 years at QC! But thanks for the memories--or should say thanks for YOUR memories.

Larry Brewster

Wow what a great review your efforts are appreciated. I am sitting in my place in the Berkshires remembering our great skits and great people.

THE WHEELER (Steve Fuller)

Who can read all that crap. When's the next reunion? I will try and get through that e-mail. Coordinating is not my thing-bitching is.

It was a great part of our youth.  Although we didn't go out of town to Syracuse, Cornell, or even Binghamton, KH made our time in college worthwhile.  Not to sound overly academic, but it was an essential part of our socialization process.  It filled our college days, which could have been a huge void in that we lived at home, with a lot of fun and camaraderie.

Steve (Weiser)

Kingston House was the best thing that happened to me in going to Queens College.

Jeff Saster

Kingston House was one of my life's highlights. I absolutely loved Kingston House, the guys, the camaraderie, the PARTIES, and the sports.  It was such a great experience and I will always have such fond memories of that time (and don't we all wish we could get in the way back machine and go there right now!)

"If you build, it they will come".

Richie Branciforte and the founding fathers of KH actually gave all of us who came after, a huge gift. For all intents and purposes, I believe you actually created a template for how young men could and should maximize their college experience.

So, yes, we won best male house plan in 1969. But, no one at the time felt that any one person was responsible. We won because our history taught us well. We won because we cared for each other. We won because we upheld a tradition of greatness. We did it for the House.

I often think of my years in Kingston House and smile. What else can you do? All the laughs, loves, shows, sports and Bash still can't match the camaraderie and friendship that was achieved by all. And, it's that sense of loyalty and cooperation that has helped keep me stay focused, as I've tried to teach these life lessons to my own kids over the years.

I'm sure you'll agree that everyone's personality can be shaped by their history. I'm, therefore, very glad that you and the other guys were a positive part of mine!

Although I knew most of you only peripherally, I wouldn't have traded the KH experience for anything else in the world. Thanks for the memories and the education!

Steve Danziger (one of the KH young-un's)

We go through life building memories......and then for some of us our memories get erased by the ravages of diminished capacity. Enjoy the moment. We did win it all, didn't we? On & off the field or stage. Just look back & smile.

Greg left Bronx Science last year, and is teaching at the Bergen Academies in Hackensack. He was finally shamed into learning to use email, and can be reached at gregre@bergen.org. However, answering emails might give the impression that he is accepting of same, so don't expect a reply.

Greene...same as he ever was.

I am especially perturbed that Gross doesn't write about the world famous drinking contest the 2 of us had where we both bought pints of rot gut from around the corner.  I thought I had him beat after I had finished about a third of my bottle and he didn't even touch his.  He then rather obscenely and vulgarly (after all, this was Gross) guzzled the entire pint in one fell swoop and put me to shame.  Worse yet I was the one who got deathly sick.

Steve Weiser

Obviously "Woo" is still upset about losing the drinking contest.  So I'm offering him a re-match, and all paid-up Kingston House members are invited to attend.  Woo, you can choose any of the following beverages: a nice glass of tea, warm milk or chicken soup (broth only). Please bring a second in case you get sick again!

P.S. Mickey I dictated this to my wife, I could never have done it myself........

Bob Gross

Oh, man! I remember the (Jose) Feliciano fiasco. They signed him, booked a place (I think in Brooklyn) and promoted the thing. Only a handful came to the show. The running joke was that it was a good thing the guy was blind so he couldn't see the small audience. A short time later the record "Light My Fire" came out and Feliciano was a huge hit.

I will listen to them all, but my absolute all time favorite was, and will always be, The Wizard. I recall so vividly the day Vic and Stan came over to my house to interview me - it seems that it was between Doll House and Dew Drop as to who would be the chosen female houseplan partner (for Follies). I remember thinking that it went well - one of them had challenged Dew Drop's numbers - apparently Doll house had 38 girls. I remember saying that Dew Drop had 35 WOMEN! So funny, the things you remember.

Your memories are unbelievable!!! I don't remember most of those skits, though I know that I was in them and loved every minute of it!!
